Default AQ misses the flop, now what?

Party 15/30 game, I get dealt A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in early position, I raise. I get called by a loose player in middle position (MP), the button ( a tight player ) and the Big Blind another loose player. 4 players to see the flop for 8+ small bets.

** Dealing Flop ** [ Jd, 5c, Kd ]

BB checks, I bet, MP calls, button and BB fold. 10sb in pot.

What do you think of the flop bet?

** Dealing Turn ** [ Th ]

I bet, MP calls.

** Dealing River ** [ 9d ]

I bet, MP raises, I call.

Comments? Anybody play flop or turn differently?

Results to follow.

Your betting looks fine to me. What did you put MP on? He's not betting loose in this hand. Does he have a possible flush, or does his betting tell you he thinks he's a winner with a top pair?

you played the turn correctly. the flop is slightly more difficult. with fewer players you bet. with 4 and the inside str8 draw, back door flush draw, plus the A (although that puts 3 cards to a str* on the board). i'd probably lead out, the alternative is checking and calling (your seeing the turn no matter what), so i think leading out is the play. betting the river is based on why you think he was calling the entire way, did you put him on a flush draw, or does he have somerthing like 2 pair, or a smaller str8? i hate calling the reraise on the river, but it is correct unless you are CERTAIN he had you beat.

why you think he was calling the entire way,

My read was he probably had something like Jx and was going to showdown his hand. When he raised the river, I was pretty sure he had the flush.

I put him on some kind of pair hand, likely Jx, until he raised the river. I was pretty sure he had the flush on the river.

"I was pretty sure he had the flush on the river. "

He wouldn't raise a queen there?

I can't believe you only asked for comments on the flop and turn.

You should reraise the river and expect to see JQ a lot more often than AQd AQd QTd (laff at the possibility of those not raising the flop) A9d A8d etc.

Default Results

Clarkmeister and 1800GAMBLER were right, MP had QTo for a smaller straight and my hand was good.

Are you actually saying you'd consider checking the river? Betting the river is a no-brainer, the only real decision is whether to 3 bet or not. I most likely would.
