Default Lay this down?

I have KK in LMP of the deep stack tourny at stars. The blinds are at 15/30 my stack is ~4800 and villians is roughly the same. Villian hasn't played many hands thus far in the 15 mins at the table.

Folded to him, he min raises, I re-raise to 200, he raises to 600, i make it 1200, he makes it 2500, I begrudgingly fold. Seemed like the only hand he could have is AA.

Check out my thread a few threads back. Same situation but I'm deep in tourney. Consensus was to go in with KK.

i've never folded KK preflop in a tourney, but if there's ever a time to do it, this is it. you're not getting that great of odds, since the stacks are so deep and his raise is essentially an allin.

and if he's tightish its tough to imagine him playing QQ or AKs like this. i think his initial minraise is what allows you to make an okay fold here.

I haven't played the PS deep stacks yet, but in any other PS $30 villain will be on a wide range of hands. 15 minutes into the tournament, that's like 15 hands, if he hasn't played a lot he's probably not playing loose, but that doesn't stop him from being a donk that could play AK, KK (!), QQ, even JJ that way. Not to mention complete crap.

BTW, your table image has a bearing here.

Pot is offerering t6,000 for t3,600. I say no way you can pin him down close enought not to take those odds.

I've folded KK once preflop (in a live tourney), that was a mistake of a lifetime. I'd never do it at PokerStars, no matter what structure or buy-in (yeah, not talking supers).

You're going to lose a few, but you're going to lose quite a few when you're the one holding pocket Aces as well.

Best,

well, yeah. i'm not saying i would have made this fold, or that i love it. but i think it might be correct, or at least not that bad given that it is the 5th raise, and you're getting less than 2:1 on an allin.

however, i think looking back now i might not have made the last raise to 1200 since its not really big enough to tell you much about his hand. i might have just called when he put in the 3rd raise, and then looked to get it allin on any nonA flop.

I think i just call his raise to 600, and play the flop from there.

Doesn't my hand seem a little different as my guys raises seemed designed to get called, not to mention he put in a 5th raise.

I thought about this, but it seemed to my that when he raised to 600 I still wouldn't be super confident if the flop came down all cards below king. Before I made my last raise I had already decided if he re-raised again I was folding. He was tight, and I had a pretty tight image as well.
