Default 8/b - Call or raise with a wheel draw?

Seat 7 is weak, seat 5 is solid player. I think the raise is OK, but probably too tight, since a bi smooth call might have been the perfect trap. Your opinion?

I always just call in this spot and wait until I hit another low card to go apeshit with and hopefully scoop.

I think it would be better to jam in a multiway pot instead of heads up. Besides, it would be better to get that raise in on an expensive street instead of the cheap one.

Should seat 5 have raised on 3rd if he's got 3 to a low?

On 3rd,after #5 shows no strength,#7 might pop it if he has much,so yea, waiting till 4th street to drill him is maybe a good idea. But I think the 3rd st.raise is fine too, myself.

Because you are between the bettor and seat 5 you should probably just call. Seat 5 will probably get out anyway, but remember if you don't make a high and seat 5 folds you can't make anymore money. Keep him in.

thanks for the input .. i think it's prob. better to wait till a big bet street with such a superior draw but solid player was probably gone either way. To make a long story short, I hit the wheel on 5th and weakie called me down with a lone pair of jacks - prob. would have called me anyway, but the two bets on 4th made that a done deal.

I like the raise. Seat 5 isn't going to call even a single bet unless he's lost his marbles. Seat 7 looks to me like he limped in with three clubs, and caught "lucky."

You caught an ace. Seat 7 probably only has the bare pair of jacks -- all the more likely since seat 5's brick is a third jack. Your fourth-street raise with your ace creates the fear that you have aces.

Unless you catch another ace on fifth -- which is terrific -- you will act last on that betting round, which means that if you brick off on fifth you can take a free card, which you will need.

And, of course, if you catch an ace, 4, 6, 7, or 8, you can go to town with the betting. With an ace you have the best high hand plus a super low draw; and with the other cards you wind up with an almost unbeatable low lock freerolling for high.

good point about position but with gutshot + over card, I'll bet 5th and take my free card on 6th since he'll prob fear aces if I bet a brick.
