Multiple Pocket Pairs
Not sure if this has been brought up, but I have seen multiple pockets pairs dealt into the same hand on PartyPoker. I was wondering what the odds were that 2 pocket pairs are dealt in the same hand let alone 3 or 4? And the odds for the same pocket pair being dealt in the same hand as well. I mostly play 2 table or multi table tourneys on PartyPoker and I seen this happen a bit too often. The worst case I've seen of it is 6 pockets pairs dealt to an 8 handed single table tourney. KK, two QQ's, JJ, TT, and 44. And 3 or 4 in a one hand is not too rare. Is this odd or should it be expected in hold 'em?

Re: Multiple Pocket Pairs
Odds are 16 to 1 you'll hold a pocket pair preflop. However, if someone else at your table has one that hand, odds are slighly more likely you'll have one. If 2 people have them, etc.
I have noticed this on Party as well. One of the conspiracies that my friends and I hold that Party Poker's software isn't completely "random". |
