Default Big time display problems -- need some help

I just reinstalled Windows. I am having MAJOR problem with my monitor display. Its only shos up 1) at the lowest resolution and 2) with one 4 bit color. It's almost impossible for me to read any webpage (2p2 seems to be okay thankfully). This is obviously a software problem. I am surprised I have not been able to fix this myself. I have tried to download a driver for my monitor -- no luck finding one! I have tried the troubleshooting in windows route... nothing!

My computer was working at 16 bit color before I installed the service pack, but would still not go above minimum resolution. It's frustrting since I have a 19" monitor!

Hopefully the solution to this problem is relatively simple. If anyone can offer me any help I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

It was the hammer whack that did it. Works every time.

You did not install the video card drivers, which somewhere along the lines of messing around you did.

BTW, love the avatar!
