Re: new to plo, a little help please.
Given the flop and foe's action, you are beat on that river 91.7% of the time.

so way off then , one quick question is a top set + no redraw favourite over middle set and flush draw on the flop?

Re: new to plo, a little help please.
Ah-yup. Middle set + fd = at best ten (1 quad + 9 flush) outs vs. top set.

i thought about this for ages on the river and came to the conclusion im up against a smaller 2 pair or a bluff more than a set or a str8.....is this way off? [/ QUOTE ] Maybe it's just me, but for this board I think smaller 2 pair or even a set is pretty much the same thing as a bluff. Hell, I would classify 85xx a bluff here. For me, his play makes the most sense for a hand like 578J, or the like. He flopped a draw, turned a weak str8, and rivered the nuts. Or perhaps, he flopped a draw, turned the naked nuts and is potting the river hoping to make you fold with the T-high straight. Either way, this is a bloody dangerous place for him to make such a bet without at least a T high straight. It's also a very low odds call for you because you're hand is only strong enough to beat 60% of all random hands. |
