Default BvB Momentum/Position Raises

This kind of relates to Caro's law of loose wiring (that different player actions at different points in a hand can dramatically alter the way it's played).

Both these hands, the SB is a 57/20 LA-N type with a AttSt of ~40.

Here's the hand where the SB limps and you don't raise:

Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with X[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], X[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
3 folds, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (2 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB bets, Hero folds.

Final Pot: 1.50 BB

Here, I know he's full of it most of the time. With a 40 AttSt, he's raising any A for sure and most kings, so he has a 6 here at best, and probably junk. This pot is small enough, though, and he's spastic enough to play back at me with air, making a bluff raise not worthwhile.

Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with X[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], X[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
3 folds, SB completes, Hero raises, SB calls.

Flop: (4 SB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, SB folds.

Final Pot: 2.50 BB

Here, he behaves like a good boy and check-folds his T3s or whatever trash he had, instead of trying to steal the pot from me. SUCCESS!

I've noticed that his momentum carries over to loose-passive players as well. When they open-limp in the SB and you check, they're more likely to call you down chasing an overcard or with a miserable hand like 62 on a 2KQ board.

What I wanted to discuss:

How light are the better players here raising in the BB when the SB open-limps? I have started to think that I should basically raise just infrequently enough that they don't think I'm doing it EVERY time.

89o or better for the most part. Against some real weaklings I'll raise a lot of garbage because I know I can take the pot with a flop bet damn near every time.
