What's up?
Where are you headed?

I read either during or after the big WPO tourney that you were unhappy/concerned about the 'shoe, especially I think because of Harrah's? Any more insight into bigtime B&M poker?

Best of luck and good health.

Well, I hate to leave the area, but the options are not that great and I'm not tied down here. So I took a job at Bellagio. Hate that heat out there but what the hell, it's closer to California and home.

Harrah's is proving a fabulous ability to chase pennies and push away dollars. I saw the writing on the wall a long time ago but wanted to give it a chance. Unfortunately it's all the great customers that are gonna lose. But it is already noticeable. The shoe definately doesnt have 60% of the Tunica market enymore.

bfh:

Sorry to hear the long term prospects faded.

Those of us 1400+ miles closer to Tunica than Las Vegas can only hope that the big-time casinos change on their own or that the competition of the market results in an improving poker scene.

My best guess is that you'll be dealing. I hope you make more tokes to make up for the higher cost of living. At least you won't have a state income tax.

Good fortune and keep posting.

I think things are looking up, actually. We've been trying for years to get the poker room relocated and expanded. Harrah's comes in? Construction starts next week. We're also adding a computerized waiting list and a paging system so players can get on a list and go play something else while they wait. I can't see Harrah's screwing up poker in Tunica, or any other property for that matter. They spent a lot of money for the rights to the WSOP. The circut events have already proven to be a successful. I see things looking up. I know there have been some changes with the staff that seemed to be untimely. I'm not happy about that either. Thats the business though. You know that as much as I do. You will be missed, for sure. It's not easy to loose the backbone of your dealing staff. You are a phenominal dealer and I wish you the best in Vegas.

Hey Todd thanks for the compliments. It's nice to hear. I may be making a stupid move. But hey it wont be the first one. I'll certainly miss you guys and all the great customers of the shoe. Some of which I'll naturally see from time to time in LV. But hey, I can play in any events I want now too!!

Take care Todd....5 more shifts and it's off to Vegas baby!

Default Thanks for the ride home that morning...

from the Grand when I was too hungover to see, fish! Best of luck to you.

As a side note, I've been playing more on-line and much less Tunica B&M since they all went to the unforgivable $4.00 rake.

When did this happen? It was $3 rake on 20-40 last time I was there...I thought it was the deal of the century (esp. compared to AC's $7 per half hr time charge).

The floor and dealers are the backbone of any room (its a service industry). Losing 2 of the better floormen I've come across will probably really hurt, no matter the reason.
For the sake of everyone I know there (and appearantly that list is quickly dwindling), I hope they find more exceptional help like you Todd.
