Default I just figured out why the Christmas music on radio sux this year

(I made this post in the Sirius thread, but I think it's huge enough to merit it's own thread. I don't make a habit of doing that, so please, allow me a little latitude.)

I just figured out what's wrong with the Christmas music: THEY'RE NOT PLAYING CHRISTMAS MUSIC! They're playing the politically correct "holiday" music.

Plenty of "Let It Snow", plenty of "Frosty the Snowman".

No "Silent Night", no "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing".

No references to Virgins, mangers, or angels.

I don't have a religious bone in my body, but those are the best songs! I mean, by FAR.

Gene Autrey doing Rudolph is nice, but Michael Crawford doing O Holy Night is downright sublime (if you download one Christmas song this year, make it that one; trust me).

This goes beyond Sirius. I was also disappointed with the Christmas music being played on local radio, and the digital music channels on my cable. Now, I see what the problem is.

Somebody tell Bill O'Reilly!

Victory!

The "Keep Christ the hell out of Christmas" campaign is succeeding.

I prefer the non-religious ones usually, musically, so this doesn't bother me. It's pretty weird, though.

Flame away ATL people, but this is pretty much my favorite station every December.

They never play Simon and Garfunkel's "7 O'Clock News-Silent Night" anymore. That one was a Christmas classic.

Every time someone tells you happy holidays, respond back, "you just killed an angel"

I don't know anything about Sirius -- but my local "Christmas music station" (which plays Christmas music 24 hours a day from Nov. 1st through Christmas, but plays pop/variety music the rest of the year) has been playing plenty of "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing!", "Carol of the Drums", "Silent Night", "Noel", etc.

The local country music station has also been playing plenty of 'Christmas' music (that is, Christ-birth inspired music) interspersed with their regular country rotation. Ditto the local Top 40 station -- so long as you can stomach NSYNC's version of "Noel".

Despite all that...to the OP: Do you have a CD player? An iPod? There's alot to hate about commercial radio; you may want to considering investing in a personal music collection.

forty-four percent of americans believe the rapture will take place within their lifetimes.

This is surely a sign that its closer than we think.
