Price range for an engagement ring?

Tell her you're morally opposed to the practices of the DeBeers cartel. That should get you to look more sensitive, and then you can buy her a synthetic diamond (note: NOT a cubic zirconia) instead!

Really this is a relative question. The old stander is two months pay. But really its common sense. If you make 100K at least a 8K+ if you make 50K at least 3K plus.
