Default Losing big in low limit hold em

I can honestly say that losing big with expert play in low limit hold em didn't put me on tilt tonight. I blew through 43 BB tonight playing 2/4 but I had the best of it most of the times I was in the pot.

Losing online for me is another story though. Somehow, its easier for me to lose to a bad player when I can actually see them. I like to say "nice hand, and smile." It makes them feel good and it helps to keep me calm and focused. Plus it keeps everyone in a gambooooling mood

Does anyone else feel this way?

Hey there, I also lost big with expert play yesterday (25BB, not as big as you Mr. expert). There were two terrible players who even began to brag about their winnings and taunted the other players over their longshot miracle-cards.

I did not go on tilt. I just added their names to my buddy list, and played my game.

It makes no difference to me whether this happens live or online.

I went on a -100BB streak over a week or so once - get this, at 1/2 (a game I can usually crush with my eyes closed - or at least on the TV).

Losing online means I can swear at the laptop, calculate how many sklansky bucks I won (back of an envelope next to the computer) and wander off into the kitchen to get a drink (strictly water).

Yesterday I was devastated after losing a $182 pot at 3/6 LHE to some jerk who caught his gutshot straight on the river to beat my set of nines. The probability of me winning the pot was 6/7 at the turn (a K would give the pot to Mr. AK and a T to Mr. Gutshot, any other card and my set would have held up).

After that I was stupid enough to tilt away some money before deciding to stick to 2/4 and below for a while. Smaller pots makes me less vulnerable to tilt.

I envy your ability to cope with bad beats.

Small Stake Hold'Em is not a beginner book. The book is meant to teach good hold 'em players how to exploit the most out of small stakes opponents. Handling pressure, variance, bankroll requirements, etc. are not concepts the book covers. I suggest you read Mason's Poker Essay's 1,2, and 3 and Gambling Theory and other topics.

It will be an interesting day when I can look back on my play and say that I played expertly.

In relation to your post, perhaps you could keep a squishy bag and picture of someone you don't like near the computer monitor. Then, when you lose a pot, you can look at the picture, call it a few names, and take out your frustration on the squishy ball. It'd put a face to your opponent and let you blow off some steam.
