follow up to raptors AJ post
so i'm multitabling 20s right now and writing this post. so i'm dealt AJo two off the button early in the game. i limp. the button limps and everyone else calls. the flop comes:
A 8 6 (two diamonds on board) pot:100 the BB bets 100 and i raise to 300 (defining my hand), and the Button calls and BB folds. (i playon pokerrom so we all start out with 1500 chips-for chips stack reasons) pot:800 Turn brings another 6: A 8 6 6 (two diamonds). I check and the button checks. river brings 2: A 8 6 6 2 (NO FLUSH) HERES MY QUESTION: I bet out 250 on the river as a blocking bet. Just in case the button was on a flush draw and doesn't make it, i don't want him making a big bet that i can't call. Is this a stupid tactical move? In case you wanted to know: My opponent raises me 300 and I FOLD--i think this is standard, obviously. |

Re: follow up to raptors AJ post
well, this is nowhere near the same actually. as far as advice goes.. i dont limp with AJ if its folded to me. i raise or fold. why bet the river? a 250 bet looks REALLY weak. really weak. either check call or check fold depending on yer read. holla

Re: follow up to raptors AJ post
i hear ya about the raise. i play AJ, really slow at the beginning if no one has limped. I figure if i raise and anybody calls me. they can easily have me beat and position. and at the levels i play, lots of people limp in with Ax. so i get paid off more.
it might appear weak, but doesn't it look like i'm asking for a call. Would you reraise with anything that does beat me other than a 6? |

Re: follow up to raptors AJ post
This is a low limit sng...
What's wrong with check calling the river? If your willing to bet 250 in the river, I don't see a problem calling 300 or 350...if someone wants a call with the 6, I doubt they will make a big bet. If they do, you can fold obviously. So? |

Re: follow up to raptors AJ post
i also thought the river bet was a bit of a value bet in addition to being a blocking bet. At my level some people with easily call that with a lower Ace. So i think it makes sense on that level as well.

mayhaps
I would probably consider it depending on the bettor and the bet. But I think much more often than not this person has you beat. |

Re: follow up to raptors AJ post
Ok, understood.
Other question: Why not bet the turn? A button player cold called you at a low limit typically means a draw or weak ace...the turn wasnt that scary. |
