but if you live at home and have a fairly normal job and normal expenses then I just don't see why you would need that much.

I agree. $300/month is easy if you aren't eating out too much. One thing that I've discovered since I started eating healthy 3 months ago is that it's actually cheaper to do so. I eat 5-6 meals/day (including meal replacements), and I still spend under $300/month. $300/week is just outrageous.

Well I guess being 21, Living in Boston and going out drinking at least three nights week alters my thoughts on the matter.

Thanks for all the replies.

Just thought id give you an update of what ive concluded.

Basically, ive decided my bankroll is $4,700 (ive won a bit since ive last posted).

I went to take a shot at the 2-4NL, went up $900 pretty quick only to then lose it with a cold deck.

Im now going to back to 1-2nl, grind a few hundred more out, and use that as 'take a shot' money. hopefully one of the times ill go up and stay up, and then always stay at 2-4nl, and if i go back to $4,700 then ill go back to 1-2nl

ill use christmas money as spending money till i get my student loan in, and then use my student loan as my spending money.

i feel comfortable with doing that, and think its a sensible approach. the most important factor is that i feel comfortable, there is no point in it ruining my day if i lose, and by playing this bankroll system way hopefully it wont.

although it is starting to hit me what a great opportunity i had going up 900 only to then miss every draw and opponents hit every draw and i end up having to back to 1-2nl. ah well.

but i thought i played perfect except for one hand i misplayed, which disappointed me at the time but ill try hard to make sure it doesnt happen again for another long time.

thanks again for the replies so far and please do comment and what your thoughts are on this, cheers.

IT seems your bankroll is artificially held up by mom and dad.

so why dont you act like a real man and stop taking money from them. I bet they would be real proud of you if you told them you were going to pull your own weight and that they should spend the 6.6K on a nice holiday instead of you taking it and pissing it away.

while your at it you might want to start picking up a few of your own bills.

you would be expected to toast off another 2K of student loans. why not do something productive with them? make a sound investment. I know 2K isnt alot, but you can get your foot in the door on a entry level portfolio or laddered CD plan.

I dig interest free money I carry all my debit cards as interest free. Its sound to use intrest free to better leverage the money you already have. but remember intrest free isnt principal free and the principal amount must be recokoned with sometime.

Now that reality has struck you should not used borrowed money for your bankroll. the idea is to add to your future wealth not install liens against it.

Im glad your a winning player. bank and invest the cash. give yourself a healthy bankroll that earns interest on its own. make real short , mid and long term plans to build a sound secure financial future for your self, your companion and perhaps your future generations. also give some away to philanthropic endevors. Barry Greenstein would be proud of you too.

cut mom and dad some slack on the bills. they will be proud of their son and it will help you in the long run.

Dood dont ever decieve your parents, that love you, about money.

Money is so petty when it comes to your relationship with your parents and other loved ones.

doing so is Karmically bankrupt and will hurt you in so many ways you can not begin to count them.

They may suffer a bit however You will suffer over these things for the rest of your life.

Your parents would likely be dissappointed that you spent their school money for you on a poker4 bankroll

But hey I wont tell them .

thats your job.

Just let us know when your man enough to do it.

then we can be proud of you too.
