Default San Diego players

I'm a former San Diego area resident (San Marcos) and am going to be back in town for about two weeks in early November. Back when I lived there the casinos in the area were still in there infancy and there weren't nearly as many as there are today. I'm looking to play some poker while I'm in the area and was looking to get some reccomendations from people who have played in the San Diego area. Where is the best place to play? I'm basically looking on playing anywhere from 4-8 up to 8-16 limit. Any info anybody can give me on what the competition is like, what the rake is like at various places, and which rooms are the nicest would be appreciated.

Thanks and looking forward to getting back.

What part of town are you going to be in? Ocean's Eleven in Oceanside is the best place to play, but if you're on the other end of town, one of the indian casinos may be more convenient for you.

I'll be in San Marcos. Unless some new joints have opened that I don't know of I figure Pechanga and Oceans will be the closest rooms.

Definetly Ocean's 11 as it's the closest and best. Pechanga is also worth hitting up if you want to check out somewhere else, though it's a farther drive.

Never been to Pechanga, but you're not gonna find a sittable 8/16 at any of the indian joints here during the week, and at most 1 table on the weekends. I just moved to Vista and I love O11

Viejas has an 8/16 going a lot of nights. It always has 3/6 and 4/8.

Both of those rooms are very good, and should have the limits you're looking for at any time of day.

Barona has 6/12 going most nights and 8/16 if you're lucky. Still, your best bet is probably Ocean's 11.

I know nothing about San Diego but have a chance to go to a conference/convention there next spring.
Are there any card rooms close to the convention center???

Driven by Oceans many times on the freeway but never stopped in... If I go I'll probably be playing at night on weekdays and days on weekends. Any idea what the traffic is like, i.e. how long I might have to wait for a table? Also any general opinions on the quality of the competition would be appreciated. Thanks...
