Hand 1 - I really don't have much read here...i hate these super donkish overbets. Unless he slowplayed AA and is fishing for someone with a 2 here, its a weird play. Option 2 is that he has a 2 and his kicker has to be better than yours. I am really torn between folding or just calling this bet. A call (especially out of the blinds) oughta scare the hell out of him if he doesn't have AA or a 2. Barring no reads at all, I probably fold because it's a small pot and his super donkish overbet has me perplexed.

Hand 2 - that club either bailed you out or totally killed your action. I would bet out around 8-10 and hope he has a decent sized club....or maybe the king and he'll raise me.

i don't think it's necessarily wrong in either case...this is a really gray area I think. In hand 1 you pick up fold equity on someone with a 2 and a better kicker than you. In hand 2, if you think villain will call the overbet, then it works...it's really a function of how often you think they'll call the big over bet, versus how often they'll call a smaller value bet. If your estimate of how often they'll call multiplied by the amount is greater than say just a $10 or $15 bet per hand, then its worth it...otherwise its not.

Hand 1: without any read I fold this.
Hand 2: I bet about pot. There is no way he can call an all-in with just a king high flush.

Hand 1, you are very very very likely to be ahead. I can't remember seeing a single time that someone overbet that much on the flop with a strong hand. On the river, sure. But not on the flop. On the flop, people want to get action from their monsters. If the guy bet half pot, you raised, and he pushed, I would be more likely to make the heroic laydown. With him just going nuts like this, I can't see you being behind. But I'm torn between pushing and calling. If you push, it is unlikely that he will make a mistake, but there are people who will call a push here with an ace. You said he's not notably bad, though, so I think I like a call. Then get it all in on the turn. Hopefully he fires again on a turn blank and you can easily push.

Hand 2, check/raise river. Hope he calls with a high club. If he has a hand to call the river with, he has a hand to bet. I don't think there are many hands that call on the river, but don't bet. And he may take a stab at it with a hand that he wouldn't call with. And he may have a hand to call a c/r with, so it seems like the obvious river play to me.

On the first hand, I think it's fine since it prevents you from folding the best hand on the turn if the flush hits and it also charges him in case he is betting the flush draw. No way I'm folding this. Looks like free money to me.

On the second hand, I like c/r better because it gives him the opportunity to stab at it with nothing, and if he has a hand to call with, it is going to be either an underboat or a high club and he is likely to bet both of those so you aren't going to miss very many check/raises here. I think pushing is the second best option, though. No one is calling a value bet who won't call a push, IMO, on this super scary board. And a push puts him to the test so you might get the heroic call that they LOVE to make with a weak holding.

Hand 1 - you wont lose a lot by folding here ..... but .... push ? :-).

Hand 2 - Push :-).

Pushing is the new recommended approach - its high variance, but hell ... its a whole lot of fun.
