If you factor in defense you could probably make it about 3.84/RARP (15 RAR SS). Maybe 3.5 is better. Manny, Konerko, and Abreu are all below average defenders. Manny and Abreu are probably at or below replacement level, Konerko might be above replacement.

Good deal for Furcal. Good deal for LA. He'll really help LA, especially if the poor man's Rafael Furcal doesn't heel fully from Tommy John surgury. The thing I like most about this deal from both perspectives is it's only for three years. The Dodgers aren't locked in if Izturis and thier prospects give them cheaper alternatives, and Furcal will be a free agent again at the age of 30, giving him another chance to score a big contract.

He had very poor defensive ratings until last season. I have to think the CWS pitching had something to do with his defensive rating last year.

Who knows, maybe Cedeno will get a shot.....

I just hope they don't trade half the organization to get wife-beater Lugo.

Cedeno getting a shot would be great. They won't compete anyway and Cedeno might be a nice suprise.

Your Lugo scenario is realistic because it would be incredibly stupid to do...except Hendry hasn't really done anything like that yet (that I can remember). But every overrated mediocrity is always rumored to be coming to Chicago and they can't all be baseless.

There's little chance the Cubs compete next year. There's no point to trading prospects for some POS rental, but with a GM in the last year of his contract it feels inevitable.

I [censored] hate these guys.

If he's healthy, there's no way they bench him. They'd move him to 2nd I'd guess. But if he's not healthy.....
