Default Poker database for Live play

I play primarly live games. I wanted to know if there is any software package or spreadsheet anyone has to keep track of their action. I have started a little spreadsheet myself, but i assume that someone on 2+2 might have something better. I want to better document my win/loss and expense items. As well as take better notes.
Thanks in advance....

I track all my live games in Excel and get some basic statistics that way. If my Excel skills were better I think it would be a fun project to try and make my spreadsheet more robust and add some bells and whistles. Anyone have an Excel template/shell that they've already set up that they find particularly useful?

I am thinking about getting StatKing too. Could anyone who's already using it share their experience? Is it that much better than just keeping an Excel database?

I play a lot of short sessions and different games/stakes, at different places. Excel is just not that convenient for grouping different stakes/ games/ days of the week; calculating hourly rates separately/ total; etc.

Is StatKing good (or at least is it worth $30)? The trial version looks ok, but still only very primitive sorting, looks like. Is it the best s/w available for live play tracking?

Thx a lot.

I use this Poker Analyst from Card Player. Works well, very easy to sort by date/limit/casino, etc. Calculates everything for you, and you can access it anywhere with an internet connection (as opposed to only on your home comp. that has StatKing installed).

I have a free site that you can use to track both your live and online games.
