Default UK laws on running an MTT in a pub ?

Hi all,

I live in the United Kingdom and have been running my own home games etc. Two friends of mine run a pub and we'd like to hold a 36 seater MTT in the pub.

Now I know its not legal to gamble on licensed premises, but its going on all over the place ..... so what are the loopholes, how do we need to set it up to avoid getting nicked ?

Some people have said we need to run the tourney as a charity event, is there a minumum % that needs to go to the charity?

Any help from people in the UK would be gratefully received.

Talk to the guys who run the tournaments in N Ireland . I should think the gaming laws are the same.An Irish event without booze unheard of.If that fails talk to gutshot poker room in London I think they are up to speed on what is not illegal. You could also telephone the gaming board Be sure to mention CHARITYand haggle from there.

Thanks very much for your response, I went up to the Gutshot last Sunday to check it out. I'm going back in a couple of weeks, so will see if I can pick someones brains.
