QQ Bet/call, donk/call, call
Not my standard QQ line here.
Villain in the SB is kind of tight, about 25/7 or so, somewhat on the passive side. I learned a bit more about him later on but I didn't have that info so let's just roll with what we got. Other player is like 60/4/1 or something, loves to call mostly. Eurobet 5/10, 5 handed Loose fish limps UTG, a TAGish player raises in MP, Villain #2 CC's on the button, I three-bet in the SB with QQ, no hearts. Villain #1 calls 2 cold in the BB, first limper folds, everyone calls. 4 to the flop for 13 SB. Flop is 5xT [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I bet, BB raises, original raiser folds, Button calls two cold, I call.... Turn (9.5BB) is a black 6. I bet, BB raises again, Button calls two cold again, I call. River is a non-heart, no-straight card, no Q (15.5 BB). I check, BB bets, Button folds, I call. |

Re: QQ Bet/call, donk/call, call
i like the turn donkbet. i'm thinking about making it 3 bets on the turn, hoping that BB has a hand like AJ. but this might be a bit reckless.

Re: QQ Bet/call, donk/call, call
I like this line a lot. I think it makes sense. I think villain flopped 2 pair a lot of the time, but there is enough there to make the times he is overplaying TPTK or SDFD profitable.

Re: QQ Bet/call, donk/call, call
I think if you can't 3-bet the turn after donking then you should 3-bet the flop. You have a good equity edge against these guys on either street; the flop raisor isn't going to isolate with a flush draw very often and the cold-caller is a cold-caller. It seems like we're messing around with what's usually the best hand and I don't see the advantage to this play?

Re: QQ Bet/call, donk/call, call
I three bet the flop.
As played, I'd probably just call down the turn raise and call the river bet as you did. |

Re: QQ Bet/call, donk/call, call
I'm 3betting the turn, or 3betting the flop. Button is either on a draw, or has a hand strong enough to stay in but he's not to happy about it. He isn't going anywhere befor the river, so get his dead money in the pot while you can.
...I like 3betting the flop, more than the turn. but I think either is ok. |

Re: QQ Bet/call, donk/call, call
I can understand wanting to 3-bet the flop, but why do people want to 3-bet the turn? A tightish, passive-ish player has raised us twice after calling 2 cold after we 3-bet preflop. We are ahead/will suckout enough to call down easily, but I don't see much of a point in 3-betting the turn.
Anyway, I guess the issue in waiting or not is whether I can make worse odds for weak draws (if button has a gutshot or a pair/overcard or something) rather than ramming and jamming on a flop where my equity may not be that great. I only say that because, aside from some good draws that people are likely to have, I think even his flop raise is indicative of a good hand (I was thinking a set, JT, or AJ, a draw being less likely since he is acting right after me and you would think would often smooth call it), so I'm not ahead of him all that often and even when I am, I've got to dodge a lot of cards. So I just called and bet a blank turn. Once he raised again I figured him for two pair but AJ could be possible too, so anyway I called down and he had JT. Turns out the for a tightish player, he cold-called a lot. Weird. |
