I think the bird flu is the odds-on bet to wipe out a large amount of people world-wide.

My bet on massive population reduction will be some new artificially created toxin introduced into water supplies.
People with weak immune systems will perish. Pure Darwinian surival. Goodbye Third World and many industrial populations too.

Bird flu, mad cow disease and hurricanes are not strong enough. The AIDs experiment worked well. Now it's showtime.
