Default Who has to show first?

For some reason, it seems B&M players would rather lose a kidney than expose their cards at the showdown. They'll wait and wait and wait, point at each other, look at the board, look at each other impatiently, and wait some more, while all the time the dealer (and everyone else at the table) is saying, "Flip 'em over!" They're waiting for the other player(s) to show so they can muck a loser or flamboyantly slam down their winning hands.

Not that it matters to these players, because they wouldn't listen anyway, but what is the rule about who has to show first: Is it the first player left of the button, or is it the last player to have initiated a bet/raise?

I'm pretty sure I know this one (but I am CERTAIN that if I have any of it wrong somebody will correct me).

The player who initiated the last called bet or raise is obligated to show first. If no bet was made in the final round of betting, then generally the player starting the action on the final round is obligated to show first.

I think the rigamortis that sets in at the river is due to the fact that theoretically, all hands making it to the river are subject to disclosure at the request of anyone dealt into that hand. To abuse this rule (by frequently requesting to see hands folded after a showdown) is shunned by many. The thought behind the rule is that any player in the game should have the right to see hands called down as a means to feel comfortable that certain players are not in cahoots (sp?) with each other.

Default pretty good

generally, if there is no river action, goes in normal action order- closest to the left of the dealer button shows first.

If someone is constantly stalling on showing their hand, that is when I start asking to see their hand... even if I'm not in the hand. Hopefully they get the message sooner or later.

At the casinos in Atlantic City, whoever iniated the last action on the river shows first.

If no action on the river, then the player who iniated last action on the turn has to show first.

If no action on the turn, then the player who iniated last action on the flop has to show first.

I think the rigamortis that sets in at the river

It's not 'rigamortis'. It's rigor mortis. Two words.

I think you are incorrect on this (at least at the Taj). If the action goes check-check on the river, the person closest to the left of the button (worst position) shows first. The "last aggressive action" rule was only in practice at the Trop I thought. Not sure about Borg, but I thought they did it like Taj.

Borgata "house" rules

I feel quite certain they do not enforce the rule properly, however whoever made the last action must show first.

I do not know about the policy/rule at the Taj.

So the rule is different in Atlantic City than everywhere else?
