Since Tevis' book was based on real people, I believe he used the name Fast Eddy because he had seen others with that name.

No, he was called Fast Eddie because he raised the bet for the next set really high, really fast. Fast action. It had nothing to do with his game, unless you refer to the game beneath the game.

And Minnesota Fats was not a real person. Rudolph Wanderone adopted the name long after Tevis wrote his book.

He was real no matter if he was New York or Minnesota Fats.

Your logic (to be nice) is like saying somebody isn't real because they are known by their board name [img]/images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img]
