Default Supersatellite: Routine Play or Unnecessary Risk

Supersatellite for 5k Commerce tournament. We are down to
five players.

Player 1 (me) T5200
Player 2 T4500
Player 3 T7000
Player 4 T6500
Player 5 T9000

1st place 5k seat
2nd place $3100
3rd place $1600
4th place nothing

Blinds 400/800/100

Player 3 has button. I am UTG and push with 69h. I'm
pretty confident if nobody has anything I'll pick up the
pot and increase my stack by around 30%. Is this too
risky a move?

You arent in a hurry, and dont need to make a move UTG with a crap hand. Pick a better spot (like on the button) where there are only 2 players left to act.

Good play. You have an M of 3 with 6.5xBB. You have 4-3 pot odds if called, so you are almost even versus AK. You are only in trouble versus a pp.

You lose about 400 versus 2 higher cards, 2500 versus an overpair, and gain 1700 if you don't get called.

The payout structure is top heavy, so you want to gamble.

With everyone short stacked, most people play way too tight. You have to push, push, push.

But my stack will be depleted from 5400 to 3900 assuming I
don't pick anything up in the blinds and the limits go up in
another 5 minutes or so. Do I really have the luxury of waiting?

My mind was set to push with any two, I thought it was a bonus getting suited gappers, although Aces would have been nice.

This play was fine, I don't see how someone can be telling you you aren't in a hurry or to wait for a better spot, you have an M of roughly 3..

Of course the button called with pocket Aces and I was busted. Second g-damm time in five minutes that I was
up against Aces. Still think I played it correctly, no
guts, no glory.
