Default Re: Ever had your play criticized by the dealer?

I agree for the most part that dealers should just deal, and stfu. They have no right to comment on hands.

If you thought that wasn't bad enough already, there's a local cardroom I play at where everyone is super friendly. Even the dealers and pit bosses are really nice. The problem is the dealers sometimes get to friendly with other players to the point where if a player mucks their hand, the dealers actually peep at them before it gets fully mucked.

I've never said anything because none of the dealers have actually ever done that to me before. But if they ever did, they would get a earful from me. What I muck is my own business and no one elses and I don't need another person to start figuring out what I play and I don't play.

CrackerZack: I think the chances that the dealer was talking about UTG's hand are pretty slim, but even assuming he was, I don't want the dealer helping people--me or anyone else--play tighter/better.

Rick: I have no idea what the dealer's name was. I usually look, but I was in a bad position and he got pushed after probably only ten minutes. Anyway, feel free to show the post to your dealer trainer. I was just bitching, not looking to get anyone in trouble, but if it will help all the dealers, then great.

BTW, if you're passing along opinions, tell your floor people that they have it all over the guys at Commerce. They're all (at least in the low-limit pond where I play) professional and prompt. I've seen people need to rebuy before their first chip buy-in gets there at Commerce (partly because so many people buy-in for the minimum, but I digress...)

Early on in my playing career, so early that I was playing at a charity casino due to the lower age limits, I was running pretty bad in a wild 5/10 game, when one of the dealers who had delivered me several beats snuck a peak at my UTG cards.

Right as I folded, she says "Well honey, if you're going to be folding good cards like those, you're never going to win any money." She continued on the same lines, telling people the exact cards I had folded, when it was next her turn to deal.

While usually I'd like people to think of me as tight, I don't really think this was needed/helpful publicity.

Same venue, I was berated by a dealer for 3 betting a flop with AA hu against a little old lady, who it turned out had me beat, and informed that it was not proper to raise preflop in the game called "chooch."

Sigh,

I had a dealer one time in a 20/40 game tell a guy who called me down all the way to the river when I had AA that the guy should have known I had a hand since I raised preflop and bet all the way AND I was only seeing the flop "once every 30 minutes". Really pissed me off and I told him so. He kept his mouth shut after that, but he made this very unaware table aware of how I was playing and I had to change gears to try and get some action on my real hands. Worked out Ok and the dealer did approach me when I was cashing out and apologized. He said he didn't know where that comment came from it just slipped out. They are human and I know it is a tough job, but comments on any players play are inexcusable.
