He thought for a good 15 seconds and right when I though he was going to fold, called. He ended up starting with (T T) K for a pair of tens? So much for value betting my pair of threes there.

Carlos said very much what I think about these situations. The main weakness of players like this is they call too much. So I tend to avoid trying to bluff them most of the time, and concentrate on value betting them to death.

Don't feel too bad. I played a very similar hand on 5/10 the other day. I had pocket threes and a three flush showing on sixth. I had a straight draw and a flush draw. I had two overcard kickers too. I had re-raised on sixth and got rid of everyone except one guy. The river was a total brick.

I bet the pair of threes and got called by a pair of 4's. Fine line between genius and chump in this game.

I know I'm coming to the party late but ::

Doing stuff like this is my biggest leak. There are rare (hopefully) times when I get possessed by a raise-o-matic. Trying very hard to eliminate this tendancy has helped my bottom line alot.

I suggest you do the same.

For all those who haven't read this...

Default Hello,Michael! I\'m guessing that MOST loose players...

mimic calling stations. However, that's just a hunch that I have.

I attempted to "steal" the pot when my OPPO. "bluff Raised" me . After I mucked,he showed a PR> of 3's. But I really had 2's.

Default Hello,Stream! If a player is correct only 20% of ....

of the time to call on 7th,he will generally show a long-term profit. On the later Strs. like 6th and 7th(especially 7th) pots are USUALLY too large relative to the bet size NOT to call.

Default Re: 10/20 party bluff

Hi Istream,

My play on 7th st. is a function of looking at 5th and 6th st. as mistakes, realizing my mistakes, and not wanting to compound the error. Another thing to note is that you will usually get a free showdown if he only has 1 pair, but you will usually get called if he has 1 pair, so you save a big bet by not bluffing here. If 5th and 6th were NOT mistakes (meaning you had some reason to believe that this player could release 1 pair on the river), then you have to bet the river, but I see no reason to believe that he is going to lay down any pair any significant amount of the time.

Regards,
Carlos
