Default Things to do in Memphis?

My wife and I are thinking about a road trip to Memphis(actually Tunica, but its pretty obvious why we're going there)in the near future(next couple of months).

Anyone got the lowdown? Beale St & Elvis I know about...could use some other recommendations.

Thanks

Rendezvous' dry rubbed ribs are a must. Also, the pulled pork sandwich at Interstate BBQ at the memphis airports is great.

The inlaws live there so we get there about once a year.

Rendezvous BBQ is good stuff. I recommend Corky's for wet ribs and pulled pork sandwiches as well.

There is some decent night life on Beale st. but nothing torave about (unless you can't get enough of the blues)

The golf is pretty cheap, I'm not sure if they are open in winter tho'.

I refuse to do Graceland, it just seems to tacky but the national civil rights museum was interesting.

I suppose you should try to have brunch at the Peabody Hotel and see the ducks.

Mud Island is a waste, don't bother.

The pyramid also sucks.

All in all, if it weren't for Tunica being so close - I would crazy when we visit.

I was there several years ago with a girlfriend from Memphis. I was a little skeptical of what to do but actually had a pretty good time. I'm not an Elvis fan but I enjoyed going to Graceland. Most of the enjoyment came from seeing how nuts people still were for him but it was fun nonetheless. The Peabody ducks experience was entertaining. While the ducks were amusing, again the real fun was watching all the people go crazy about them.

But by far the best excursion was going to the National Civil Rights Museum. We stumbled across it (she didn't even know it was there). It's easy to miss as it's actually at an old motel (The Lorraine Motel where Martin Luther King Jr. was killed). It was really informative and exceeded all expectations and that was about 8 years ago so I wouldn't be surprised if it were even better now.

The best thing to do in Memphis is drive to Nashville.

You could go walkin in Memphis
Walking with your feet 10 feet off of Beale
Walking in Memphis
But do you really feel the way you feel?
