Nobody has pocket aces. Pocket aces would have raised the flop bet.

Button's preflop raise doesn't mean all that much, he knows UTG will have limped in with any 2 cards, so he could have been trying to get the blinds to fold with a large range of cards. He could have A9, pocket 4's, pocket 2's, or the one hand you're worried about, pocket 9's.

I 3bet the river.

3-betting is not good in this spot with the UTG already described. Calling isn't bad at all, as long as you're prepared to checkraise a lot of flops to try to get it HU with the retard. I'd probably 3-bet 88+ here, but 3-betting 77 when UTG won't fold and you'll just bloat the pot OOP is a bit much. As long as you're not playing nosetnobet, you'll be fine coldcalling here. Losing the initiative sucks, but if you're willing to c/r quite a few flops, it's probably a bit better than 3-betting.

Postflop is very good.

Just so that it's clear, UTG is the retard, button is the tough player. How would me checkraising the flop get me heads up with UTG, or were my original thoughts not clear enough and confusing?

I was planning on a checkraise, though, if I didn't hit my set to push UTG out and hope that I could make fancy-pants plays against a thinking button that may have had overcards.

I just thought, is this really the right forum? Im not saying this in a whiny way, but just a suggestion wouldnt you get more experienced responses in SS or HUSH where the players specialise in this type of game?

You're probably right, I'm just a weak tight wuss when it comes to posting on HUSH. But I knew that there are a few of us here in micro that are just getting started in small stakes 6max, and a lot of HUSH seems to be geared towards 5/10 and higher.

Maybe not, but HUSH isn't as receptive to anything < 5/10 6 max, and SS isn't as receptive to 6 max. I've posted a couple of 3/6 6 max hands. I like you guys here. Also, I think that, while the default players between limits may differ slightly, given reads, anyone here should be able to provide good answers to questions about play at any limit.
