A couple more I thought of:

The Ballad of Jayne - L.A. Guns

Close My Eyes Forever - Ozzy & Lita Ford

I played air guitar quite a bit when I was younger and have to say that power ballads are fun to play.

Now if I could only find the original flourescent hot pink Kramer Barreta guitar that I so stupidly sold when I was 18 years old I could stop doing this!!!

I don't guess Love Hurts was originally a power ballad, but Nazareth made it one.

The best version of that song though is the Bob Pollard and Kim Deal duet version from the "Love & a .45" soundtrack. Kickass.

So would Queensryche's "Silent Lucidity" be classified as such or is that not what you were going for? It's mostly a quiet song with a guitar solo thrown in there for fun.

But Extreme's "More than Words" wouldn't since it's rather lacking the "power" side of the equation?

The fact that you call them "Power Ballads" is hilarious.

[/ QUOTE ]

I thought that was the commonly accepted referenct term these days. What do you call them? Whatever you're calling them, you know the type of song I'm talking about. Just ignore the name, and go with it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes. I think it's probably a common term, but is still funny. How about "Wanted Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi?

[/ QUOTE ]

That song was the orgasm of the power ballad.

White Snake- Here I Go Again

I find it hard to believe that it's disputable, unless you don't count this song as a power ballad.
