tourney first: whats the longest you\'ve NOT played a hand
Well ended up going out at ~ 150/500 in a 12k MTT last night
My first 2 hands doubled me up to 3K Then got some cold cards, coupled with aggro table = sucks I sat from those 2 hands and only played one other hand until my allin prayer Have never sat through a 2hr cold spell only 1 premium hand (premium hand after an hour was pp/AK-AJ/KQ/SC/Axs) Everytime I'd get anything remotely to play (middle connectors) the pot was either huge raised ahead of me or allin'd behind me. WTH do you do? |

Re: tourney first: whats the longest you\'ve NOT played a hand
yeah, that's what I'm talking about ...
I got in a few steals obviously, but the majority of the time the pots were raised in front or reraised behind. Alot had to do with my position relative to the main aggressor/table chip leader. I was on the button when he was in the BB. So the 2 best spots (Button and CO) for steals were pretty much denied to me. He would re-raise around 70% of the time in the SB/BB. |

Re: tourney first: whats the longest you\'ve NOT played a hand
I don't know about not playing a hand, for very few hands:
I played a tourny a couple weeks ago where I did not see the flop for 2.5 hours, and only played 2 hands in 2 hours. That's a long time with almost nothing......... Dogmeat [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] |

Re: tourney first: whats the longest you\'ve NOT played a hand
Exactly. You must start stealing every so often so as not to get blinded down. The beauty of the blind steal attempt is that you can do it with any two cards. If you get called and the flop misses you, and there is a bet you fold. If a miracle flop comes, you win more. If you get reraised preflop, you fold.
This is very hard for some people to do, because it involves raising with hands you would not normally play. I have even gone so far as to put index cards over my cards on the screen, so that I can't even see them when I am in the blind stealing mode to help get me through the mental block of worrying about my cards. Vary your stealing so as to not do it every round, unless you have a hand you don't mind a reraise with. The beauty is when you get AA and raise your steal amount and someone comes way over the top to "defend their blind". |

Re: tourney first: whats the longest you\'ve NOT played a hand
time to try a resteal with live cards, you have to get some kinda of respect or aggressive players will keep open raiseing infront of you. If you will only call with level 1 hands they have nothing to fear.

Re: tourney first: whats the longest you\'ve NOT played a hand
I once went an hour and a half in a freeroll - I just wanted to see how high I could place by posting and folding!
I beat over 60% of the people with this strategy |

Re: tourney first: whats the longest you\'ve NOT played a hand
what category of cards would you be seeing a flop with.
Hands I was trying to steal with: J9s/QT/78os etc ... I don't like coming back over the top (especially when it's gonna be for all my chips with one of those, would you?) I seriously didnt see one A for 2 hours. In fact, I am going to get the hand history because I don't think I did see an A. My 1 playable hand was KK. |

Re: tourney first: whats the longest you\'ve NOT played a hand
well it all depends on your fold equity that you belive you may have. If a player has been open raising alot on your button or CO taking your steal away, I would try to shut him down with a suited connector , or 1 gapper, 78s up.
Like I said fold equity is key here, If you push giving him 2/1 or better , its not good. |

Re: tourney first: whats the longest you\'ve NOT played a hand
yeah ... when it was over I was like "well that sucked"
after I thought about it, I was like "hey that was pretty cool" but I still would like to hear what kind of hands you'd bring in over the top for all your chips. |
