Default Red Sox roster predictions

So what do we expect now? Jeremy Reed? Manny in LF per usual? Oh yeah, and we need a SS too.

the only thing I expect is 2 or 3 more substantial moves. we obviously have a lot of holes to fill, and have time to do it.

not much would surprise me

/adding little value to your question

Here are some things I'd like to see happen:

I'd like to keep Manny.
I'd like to keep Arroyo rathern than Beckett or Clement. The past couple years NL pitchers have done terrible in the AL, and AL pitchers have done very well in the NL. I'd rather keep the AL guy.
Julio Lugo would be a good option for SS.

I think the Sox just became the third best team in the East. Merry Christmas, Meddler, nice hat.

Behind who, the Blue Jays? Are we supposed to be afraid of AJ Burnett now? Are you kidding me?

As long as Manny, Ortiz, and Varitek remain the cornerstone of the lineup, and Schilling is healthier than he was last year, the Sox will have everyone save the Yanks in their rearview mirror. The Blue Jays and Orioles, try as they might, are still years away from competing with the Sox and Yankees, and the Devil Rays may never have a hope.

We've gone through this every year for the past 3-4 years now. The Yankees make a big splash in the offseason trade market, everyone in Red Sox Nation panics and thinks this is the year the Yankees run away with the division with 150 wins, and every year the Sox remain highly competitive all the way to the very end, and the Yankees find a way to blow $200M+. I expect this year to be no different.

I really like the Sox bullpen pickups. Mota and Seanez are solid.

The Sox have no shortstop, no center fielder, no first baseman, a brutal bullpen even with Seanez and a starting staff of a 43-year old disgruntled Wells, Shellshocked Clement (check his post-beaning stats) and two guys in Schilling and Beckett who may never start thirty games in a season again. Toss in a slightly depleted farm system and free agent class that limits their capacity for improvement and you have a team in trouble.

I think the Jays will win 89-91 games this year. I can't say that I feel the same about Boston. I don't think the Rocket will return, but that's the one possibility that nullifes everything.

How much are we paying Beckett? I actually don't know.
