Default Where is the U.N.?

I wonder where the UN is to spear head disaster relief ready with aid, blue helmets, money and bureaucrats to skim off the top of the program?

Prediction...The US will recieve no help from Indonesia, India, or other countries affected by the Tsunami for the Mississippi delta. Nor will aid come from the EU the UN, Africa or China or Japan (well maybe Japan). We will once again pull up our boot straps and go it alone.

Which makes sense, since we can do that with relative ease.

Don't worry Saltcracka... all we have to do is get another Client into the white house... turn over control of our Military and life's of our soldiers to the U.N. (clearly a violation of Constitution) then we might get international aid.

These threads are so silly, you don't know how these things work. 10 and 20 years ago (earthquake Mexico etc.) disaster relief turned out to in many instances create chaos since so many wanted to help in so many ways. Therefore, nowadays it is usual that the government (in this case US) specifies its needs which it itself cannot fullfil and request this aid from UN and other nations. You really think any nation would not send blankets if requested????

US gave aid to Iran after the Bam earthquake. Iran has offered help to US now. Most countries are able to put away political differences in these situations.

What do you want them to send? Sampans? Should they row them over here? Posts like these really illustrates the ignorance of some people regarding the relative wealth of nations. Asking/expecting countries like Indonesia to help would be the equivalent of me asking/expecting a bum on the street to send me money because my toilet flooded.
