Default \"The Blind Swordsman\"

Just watched this movie and wow, it's damn good. Kind of a weird ending, but very good.

My girlfriend picked this one out without me tonight. Definitely a keeper.

Be sure to watch the bonus movie "Sonatine," too.

The old lady is downstairs watching it as we speak. I wanted to get some poker in before I get too drunk and maybe I'll watch it later. Is it just a short bonus, like 30 mins or something?

No, it's a full movie - a Yakuza drama, to be precise. It was one of Takeshi's first movies as a director, yet had never been released on DVD in the US, so they called the DVD a "double bill" and stuck it in there.

Are you talking about the "Blind Swordsmen" series of movies? I believe those are the black and white Japanese movie with the hero named Zatoichi where he has a strange style of swordsmenship where he holds his katana with an underhand grip.

There are a lot of these movies, and all of them are very good for those who like the period Samurai movies. They show them every week on Saturday on the Independent Film Channel (IFC).

2 full movies on 1 DVD? I didn't think DVD's had enough space to do that.

No, 'Zatoichi' or the Blind Swordsman is a 2003 Beat Takeshi film... may be paying homage to those flicks, I dunno.
