Default 92s in the BB, what\'s your move?

PokerStars 0.50/1.00 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, 2 folds, MP2 calls, 3 folds, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (5 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB bets, Hero ?

Discuss.

I want to crosspost this in the SS forum, but I'd probably get railed for it cuz I'm not a regular there (although I respond to a couple posts a day).

The pot is fairly small, the reverse implied odds are awful, and that's the kind of flop that could've easily hit one of the limpers.

Yeah, there's a decent chance we're currently ahead of SB, but if we're not, we're very unlikely to overtake him, whereas he could have plenty of ways to improve over our hand. And there are three other players still to act who could also have something.

I just fold and move on.

I think this is textbook case of reverse implied odds. In fact, I think in the Theory of Poker I think Sklansky uses this very hand, but my memory may be crossing texts.

I voted 'raise' - but would fold if it got reraised behind me (more strongly indicating a small pair formed a set - since I don't see reraising for value on a flush draw being a likely scenario at this level). I want to knock out overcards now, if possible.
I am putting SB on a four-flush if no RR, or a set if RR; so I would fold to a Turn or River bet if they lead out again after another club came up.

Question - how is this play described in HEPFAP?

clear fold IMO. Pot is small and your hand is very vulnerable to redraws.

With the entire field yet to act I think you should fold, it would probably be different if it was checked to the button who bets, then I might think of raising.

If you're answering these questions first it better be in white, homie. You could play this one sleeping. This hand is more interesting when the 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] is instead a [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
