This is why min-raises are the bane of my poker game.
I can't stand them, they just SCREAM weakness to me. Often times when I see a play like this I think that some fish thinks he is making a play on me, and I am generally right. Agreed?

Re: This is why min-raises are the bane of my poker game.
I've actually found that they often mean my opponent has the nuts, or close to it.
I've been laying this down on PokerRoom recently, but I don't know if you can with the shorter stacks on party. |

on PP 20+2 games a fish minraising after a bunch of limpers preflop is usually weakness but a fish minraising postflop is usually strength

I don't know if this is the right play in my example, but miniraises pf definitly seem weaker to me than on the flop. On the flop it is more likely to be a bet trying to sucker you in. Pf fish usually mini raise so that they can still get away from their hand. |

That's SB/BB...those minraises never mean anything. EP minraises and other various fishyness can be different.

Re: This is why min-raises are the bane of my poker game.
Well it can go either way. In my experience, alot of times a "mini raise" is when a player is trying to counter an aggressor to see if his pocket actually hit the flop or not.
Villain here probably put you on two high cards, and this flop most likely did not hit your hand, as it obviously did not. His mini-raise was to try to make you put a lay down, and I would have layed this hand down. |

Re: This is why min-raises are the bane of my poker game.
agreed. I think 125 gets the point across...also I think the preflop raise is too much. I have never played on party so I am not how loose the calling is early, but I like to keep the pots as small as possible(preflop that is) while still letting the players know I have a good holding. I would have made it 60-70 preflop and bet this flop 2/3s of the pot. By keeping the pot small early, it helps me save chips if I have to take a stab and then get raised.
