Okay, the scalfie of the playoffs posts Championship picks
(actually, I guess I'm the tubbyspenser of this year's playoffs )
Atlanta at Phila. 41o/u -4.5 Expected weather- possible flurries Sat and Sun, temp in the 30's with wind gusts 16+ and dropping into the 'teens by evening. In the first game, given that the Eagles are the Bills of the NFC Championship game.... and the NFL would shoot my grandmother to get Vick into the Super Bowl... and the weather doesn't affect dome running teams as much as dome passing teams...Atlanta and the under. New England at Pittsburgh +3.0 37o/u Weather? Who cares? Not these teams. Given that the Steelers can't win big pressure playoff games at home (the Jets had to give them the game for the Steelers to advance) and I'm not betting against the Pats any more... and that two running games should keep down the turnovers, allowing the score to build up... Pats and the over. Given my record, fade away! |

you're hurting me with the atlanta pick my friend, you're trying to MAKE money right??
the fade is on! (good luck to you though) also, it's not the weather that affects dome running teams, it's the natural grass that affects dome running teams, and the ground will be absolutely frozen on sunday....slippy slippy! |

Note that I didn't say the Eagles wouldn't WIN, I don't know if they will cover (or win for that matter).

Re: Okay, the scalfie of the playoffs posts Championship picks
I like buying .5 here and having Pitt at +3.5 and having a seperate bet on over 37.
Reasoning is that if it's under 37 I think 3.5 is just enormous.. surely Pitt will score 17? and if it's over 37 I can still win both bets. Not strong enough for me to class as a pick, just some weirdo reasoning. Lori |

There is a growing chance of a MASSIVE snow storm this weekend, so I'd wait on the over

Re: Okay, the scalfie of the playoffs posts Championship picks
You know, I'm getting sick of people comparing the Eagles to the Bills. Buffalo beat the likes of Marino, Elway, and Montana in championship games and never lost at home. Philly has choked at home against less-than-great teams.
The Steelers haven't been much better, choking home playoff games not 1 not 2 not 3 but 4 times since 1992. Steelers-Pats...ughhh - proof that God hates me. BTW, I like the Eagles & Pats to win & cover. |

Re: Okay, the scalfie of the playoffs posts Championship picks
Some of the picks on here make no sense to me. I completely agree with lorinda here. How can anyone make a good bet on both the Patriots and the under?
They may have kept the sorry Colts from scoring in the cold weather, but the Steelers will not have the same problem. They are used to playing in this weather. I would say the chance of Pittsburgh scoring 17 or more is probably close to 80%. I will not bet on the game, because I refuse to bet on or against the Steelers after my fiasco on the Sunday night game against Jacksonville, but I am definitely betting the over in this one. |
