Default San Manuel Casino, Cali Trip Report

Right off the bat I will tell you that this isn't much of a trip report. San Manuel Casino, in San Bernadino, Cali., is pretty short on hookers, booze, drugs, and hot chicks. So you won't find much debauchery.

Anyway, me and my twin brother decided to head down there last night to kick off our Birthday weekend which culminates on Sunday. It was a nice drive from L.A., but a little closer than Commerce. I had never been there before.

The casino was actually very very nice. And the poker room was much larger than I expected. I believe it may have been a bit larger than Morongo. The only other Indian casino I had been to was Agua Caliente in Palm Springs. That place had a small poker room, smaller than the Luxor even, and I didn't even bother to play.

I didn't like San Manuel's chips too much. This may be a result of not playing live in quite a while(in a casino), but their chips were a little bit more slippery and slick than I remember Commerce being or am used to handling in the home game I've been playing in lately.

We get to the poker room and I'm shocked to learn that they don't have No-Limit. Oh well, a little 3-6 it is. The rake is $3 per pot, which they automatically take out every hand. I convince my brother to play 3-6 instead of 2-4 like he was going too.

There was a $200 pot that I was involved in. I'm on the button, some lady raises UTG, two cold callers, I 3-bet with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2 more callers and raiser calls. Flop comes K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Lady bets out, a man raises, I 3-bet to try and get rid of a flush draw and (hopefully) protect my Kings. What am I thinking, there is no protecting your hand in low limit!

Turn is an A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. I dunno if this is good or bad, but I'm really rooting for the A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] on the river. Lady bets out, man raises, I just call figuring I'm beat and another man behind me calls.

The river is a 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], completing the flush. Lady checks, man checks, I check, guy on the button bets and everyone calls. He turns over 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], narrowly missing his straight flush, but this one is good enough. Lady turns over Q-10...she raised UTG! Other man shows JJ for a set of Jacks. Disgusted, I still show my AK. If that A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] came on the river I would have got SO much action.

Ah well, I sat down with $160, never had to rebuy, and left with $335. Played for about 5 hours. Maybe I should play 3/6 live for a living. I was having problems since I'm not used to having so many chips. I had them in two rows of 7 and another 3 or so at the front, holding one stack in my hand on the side. Had problems seeing my cards. Next time I'm gonna try the triangle technique mentioned in another thread.

In closing, I think it's a crime that I made a trip to San Manuel before ever going to the Bike.

Technically it was last night, but really it was today. lol

We got there around 12:30 am and left around 5:30 am, so we just missed each other. It's a nice drive but I will probably be back out there soon.
