Default This fix will stop Eurobet browser popup at exit

When exiting Eurobet, an annoying browser window pops up. Here are some ways to (kind of) prevent it:

* INTERNET EXPLORER: If it hijacks the current browser window, prevent this by unchecking [Reuse open windows for shortcuts] in [Tools > Settings > Advanced] (or similar wording, I have a swedish OS)

* FIREFOX: The annoying part is that it will resize the window. If you use the Adblock extension, go to its preferences and:

1. Check [Adblock Options > Site Blocking]
2. Create a new filter with this URL: http://www.eurobet.com/poker/exit/

A new tab (or window if you have that setting) will still open up, but the URL will be blocked, and thus the window will not be resized.

Makes my day!

Bump - this is great

Now I am trying to figure out if there is some sort of re-direct for when it sees that link to hit the back button so I can return to where I was automatically.

I am trying to figure out if there is an better purposed extension that can block URLs only, since I found a possible problem with my solution.

If you have a filter to block all images from somesite.com, all page views from that domain will also get blocked when turning on Site Blocking. Also, some pages with ad-like words in them may also be blocked (somesite.com/index_ads.html, etc) if you have a large and/or complex set of filters (mine are; from http://www.geocities.com/pierceive/adblock/).

There's an extension to Multizilla (LINK) that perhaps will do the trick, but this is not released for Firefox yet.

Anyway, if you don't have too complex filters, you should do fine with this fix I think.

I've found a solution to the problem with valid page views also getting blocked in Firefox. If you don't experience any problem, stick to the Adblock solution. Otherwise you might want to do the following...

1. Remove Eurobet filter from Adblock.
2. Uncheck [Site Blocking] in Adblock.
3. Use a proxy to prevent Eurobet window to resize, as instructed on No-Ads page:

http://www.schooner.com/~loverso/no-ads/

The config file contains many, many banner/ad/etc sources that will get blocked by the proxy. Problem is that blocked images instead of being invisible will show a "The connection was refused when attempting to contact the proxy server..." text. To get around this, let Adblock do all ad blocking, and edit the config file to only block the Eurobet popup.

4. Select all text between (and including) the lines

// Local/Internal rule

and

// alert("blackholing: " + url);

and replace with the following:

// Local/Internal rule
// matches to this rule get the 'local' proxy.
// Adding rules here enables the use of 'local'
//
if (0
// LOCAL
// add rules such as:
// || dnsDomainIs(host, "schooner.com")
// || isPlainHostName(host)
// or for a single host
// || (host == "some-local-host")
) {
// alert("allowing (local): return " + localproxy);
return localproxy;
}

// To add more sites, simply include them in the correct format.
//
// The sites below are ones I currently block. Tell me of others you add!

if (0
// BLOCK

// eurobet exit popup
|| (dnsDomainIs(host, ".eurobet.com")
&& (shExpMatch(url, "*/poker/exit/*")
)
)

) {

// alert("blackholing: " + url);

If this looks like greek to you, PM me with your email and I can send you the config file, and write a (more) easy step-by-step guide here, BUT first try the more simple Adblock solution.
