Going Abroad, how can i keep playing?
Hey, I've been playing party since last summer, crushed .5/1, moved up to 1/2 lost a lot and now im back at .5/1 crushing again. While my goal is to get to 2/4 by next fall and do ok I'm going to study abroad for four months in Prague. While poker will be one of the last things on my mind I do want to maintain my game so that when I come back I can be at least were I left off. I'm bringing a laptop, an iBook, anyone know of any online services that have Apple software? Or if I should just find a B&M there? Anyone know how B&Ms are in Europe?

Can't help out the second guy - with no internet available,
but pokerroom lets you play right off the web interface, no downloads needed |

Re: Going Abroad, how can i keep playing?
Went to Rome last spring semester for Abroad, PM me if you have any questions or need suggestions.
First suggestion, get an account with pokerroom so you can get some playing in at one of the many internet cafe's they have around the city.... ...I made enough online while I was over there to pay for a two week vacation in Barcelona to watch/play in side games in the World Heads Up Championship last June. |

Re: Going Abroad, how can i keep playing?
Take a look here.
I was in Prague a little over 5 years ago and stopped by a casino then, but I can't remember which of the above it was. All I remember was that it was in the Vysegrad district and that it was in an old Soviet-style building (a former House of Culture or something like that). I wasn't too impressed with the casino. First of all, there were only a few table games going, perhaps only two blackjack games total, and each one had its own pit boss standing there and watching it like a hawk (I was into card counting back then and couldn't care less about poker, so I don't know if they even had a poker room). Second, being there made me feel uneasy. You have to surrender your passport at the door, sign into a registration book (can't use a fake name), and you get your passport back when you exit. Also, there was a big sign by the door instructing players to leave their guns (!!!) at the coat check. That sign alone almost made me turn around and leave before entering. I don't know, maybe things are better now. You may want to ask one of the European players, like Rolf Slotboom for example. Anyway, my advice for Prague would be to focus less on poker and focus more on everything else. The Czech Republic has some of the most beautiful girls in Europe and some of the best (and cheapest) beer. It's a winning combination! |

Re: Going Abroad, how can i keep playing?
Hi,
There are some card rooms at Prague. There used to be some good tournaments as well. Card Player magazine (www.cardplayer.com) has a long list of card rooms in Prague, There's also a card room called Prague Poker, details at: http://www.pokerineurope.com/pokercl...p?casinoid=126 There are many good tournaments around Europe, and if you have some free weekends, they would be good excuses to see around Europe. Especially try the ones in Holland. |
