Did I overplay this? I initially put MP3 on KJ: no JJ or KK with no raise preflop? With the 3 on the river, I thought it corrupted his two pair?

I knew he was extremely loose, so I raised the turn anticipating his call, and than either bet or raise the river. (I know the line is call/call/bet HU, but was I wrong here? Too aggressive?

I don't understand hand 2. You are UTG and villian is CO yet CO acts 1st? [img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]
Anyway, if you mean you check/called on the flop and check/raised on the turn I don't understand that line given his modest post flop agression.

Play AA aggressively. Be cautious when your overt aggressiveness is matched by someone who was initially passive, particularly on partially coordinated boards.

Hand 1:

You likely only have 8 outs on the turn (2 if he's slow-playing JJ or worse, KK, in which case make a note of it) you're helped out by UTG's flush draw, since he's calling all the way, hurt because hearts are most likely no good for you on the river (I'm assuming you don't have Ah). River 3-bet makes it look an awful lot like you're behind... but slowing down on the turn might make villain aggressive. I'm probably wrong, but I think this is ok.

Hand 2:

If as you said you checked each street to start... yikes.

Bet the flop. 3-bet when raised. Proceed aggressively on the turn.

Hand 1 is played fine until the river. Just call the river. The player in between will usually fold, so just calling and letting him overcall wins you the same amount of bets as if you raise and the bettor calls. And you don't let yourself get 3-bet if you are behind to a FH.

In hand 2 the CO has postflop aggression of 1, so when a player like that 3-bets you you can't do anymore raising unless you hit a set on the river.

Hand 1 is fine. On the initial river raise: UTG looks most like a busted draw (on the initial raise), so no point in going for the overcall. Your read was 2 pair, his likeliest holding, so you raise. Your opponent likely puts you on AK, not AA, here, based on how the hand played out. Their most likely holding, then, is KJ, and they think they are ahead on the river. Would MP3 really limp (and not limp-reraise) w/ AA or JJ? Would they play 77 like this on the flop? A 3 is very unlikely as well. This is a good raise, more often than not. Just call the 3-bet as you did.

Here is something you want to consider on hand 2, which I think you realize you misplayed. Imagine now that you raise pre-flop in the next hand, and you again are HU with the same player. The flop totally misses you. Good luck betting out and picking it up unconstested.
