Default 2nd Numpty play of the day

OK, I reckon I'll get grief for the way I played this hand but I'd be interested to hear how I should have played it.

Villain was 54/4/1.0 after 24 hands. It was only a small sample but so far he had not check raised at all and had folded 50% of his hands when bet into on the Turn.

hmmm...he doesn't seem to be overly aggressive getting 7.5:1 here on the turn it's close. the 5's are mostly good, but I think our A's are almost worthless and J's aren't much better. I dump it to the c/r. Good until that point though.

A c/r after a flop donk bet can't be good. I think jax is right - fold the turn. While the 5's are most likely good, (A5 is a possibility, so we may be splitting) the overcard outs are not worth much.

yup yup. You from the uk, ttttt? I have never heard the expressions "numpty" or "get grief" from someone across the pond.

console yourself that most times i do a numpty and call a turn checkraise i also call the river, so you saved 1BB on me.

Grunching

I think I would've played it the same. 24 hands isn't much and I think you have odds to see one more on the river. He probably has a 4 but if he does you've got outs to catch your wheel. He could also have a pocket pair giving you 6 outs, a split pair, or even A high. I don't like folding to the c/r here without a better read on villain.

(grunching)

He bet the flop, called a raise, and then checkraised you on the turn. This screams big hand. Absolute best case scenario is that he's overplaying an A (fish love those wheel draws), in which case you may be ahead if his ace is worse, and a 5 will split the pot -- but will you call a river bet if the wheel doesn't come in?. Even if he's on "just" an overpair, you're short on outs.

I think this is a clear fold. You tried to push him out, he pushed back ... go on and get him when you have something that might hold up. The good news is he's seen you bluff, so you'll likely get more action from him when you do hit.

I'll make a narrow call. 7.5 to 1, with ~5 outs, which isn't too generous. You're 8.2 to 1 to 1 to hit a 5 outer. You're all but guarenteed to make at least 1 bet back. I think this is a decent call.

Fold turn after being c/r. Why continue?
