Default antes in NL

I don't know where to post this, so i'm posting this here.

So, you got antes in tournament NL. Fine. They want to juice up the action/have people get broke more quickly. I understand.

But why aren't antes used in cashgame NL? or did they use to use antes, but then people were like "this is a crappy way to play cashgames" (kinda' like how omaha become PL instead of NL)

thoughts?

actually, NL cash games are a pretty new game. It had died out for years until tourney NL came around. I am sure that people would play if they where told they needed antes.
The reason I don't think there are antes is because of the relative size of the ante to the blinds.
What are you going to ante in a 1/2 100 max NL game? quarters?
This might work online, but not so much in live action.
Antes are just annoying live.

The Rio had a $25-$50, $25 ante no limit game running for most of the WSOP.

Other than that, I've never seen it spread anywhere.
