Default 6/12 vs 4/8 At The Trop

Hello all, going to AC on SAT evening. I have played 4/8 at the Trop before and was thinking of moving up to 6/12. I have been playing 4/8 couple of years and have built up a nice roll, but never played higher. How do the 2 games compare to each other? TAG,LP,ect... Any advice appreciated.

Same team different players.

Sit down and evaluate for yourself. You should have no problem.

I found it hard to stay in a game with 6/12. Usually there is only 1 table going. With the 4/8 game, there are a lot more tables playing. I played 6/12 3 times in the last 4 months and not once did I have a full table for more than 10 mins. Most of the time, there was only 5 or 6 players. All 3 times I played were on Sat. nights. Personally I think its a pain in the ass having people buying in and leaving every 5 mins, but that's just me.

I always play the 6-12 at the Trop when I'm in AC. I find it to be much more profitable than the 4-8. I would estimate (usually) an average of 4 people to a flop, rather than the 6-7 of the 4-8. It's easier to identify good players, and you'll know when you're beat - the fish will be betting into you. I like the Trop 6-12 a lot.

Why would Trop spread 4-8 and 6-12? That sounds like a horrendous management decision given their smaller player base. If I was them I'd do 4-8, 8-16 with $2 chips and 12-24. Would make them original at least.

I played the 6-12 for a couple of hours last time I was in AC. I had been playing 10-20 at the Taj all weekend but had to kill some time at the Trop right before we left town. The game was a total maniac show with 6-7 players to every flop for 3 or 4 bets. Everybody at the table hated everyone else there. I managed to show a profit but it was one of the weirder tables I've played at in some time.

Yea, there is just something about the 6-12 games at the Trop that rubs me the wrong way. I don't know what it is. Figuring you have to go in with at least $200, I would rather play 1-2 no-limit hold-em, considering you can only go in w/ $300 max.
