Default First $165 tournament, how\'s my reasoning?

So, my first adventure in an expensive (for me) tournament, isn't going so well so far.

If we assume that I am NOT one of the better players in this tournament, did I misplay my AK here? Since I called his CR on the turn, I was right to just go all-in on the spot, right?

After he calls my flop c-bet, here's what I thought he might have:

AA/KK: unlikely since no reraise PF, also I have an A & K.
QQ-99: Probable
88-55: Possible, should have probed or CR flop though, right?
44-22: unlikely to call PF?
KcQc-QcJc: possible-probable (I have Ac), loose-ish call PF
3&?: unlikely given call of PF

So I figure I am likely ahead to a middle pair or a missed overcard-flush draw. I play it hard since I don't know how many potentially favorable spots like this I will have later in the game.

Also, his checkraise looked to me like a semi-bluff with a middle pair (if the King missed me), or a semi-bluff with an OC flush draw. Or of course, 3-something.

If he just called on the flop but check raised on the turn, he probably doesn't have a draw he probably was slow playing, or the king hit him.

I would be inclined to agree with your guess that he hit the king and still had the flush draw.

Posting your results should wait until after people talk about the hand as it will bias there reply. I probably would have done the same thing you did, as I don't see my AK losing a lot in this position. I can't see 34s calling that big of a raise preflop.

Also, I think you're also correct in thinking he could have anywhere from 44-JJ since his flop call. If he's LAG he would have raised on the flop with those pairs as well.

Hard hand, but I agree with your assessment.

You don't have to make a continuation bet into two players on this flop, but it is OK to do so, representing an overpair.

I would have assume my hand was good on the turn. I don't see how you can get away from it.

Villain may not be one of the better players in a $165 either. The money is not deep enough to call 5xBB with that hand.

I may think about checking behind on the turn here, with the intention of check calling the river in order to induce a possible bluff, while keeping the pot smaller.

Couple of thoughts.....

1) By the size of the blinds, it is obviously early in the tourny and unless you have notes on the players, you have no idea how loose or tight they are or what value they place on hands.

2) He is the small blind, some people WILL NOT come off their blind and it was what $65 to him?

3) You're in late position, so a meager $75 raise is not intimidating when some might think you are only making a position raise. A higher preflop raise may have moved him but who knows?

4) When in doubt, get out
