Re: Going to vegas, not 21
[ QUOTE ]
it's a losing proposition. [/ QUOTE ] Obviously no one wants this, but I don't think it is. Any casino game is, we can agree on that. (edit: Also, it should be noted that I think casinos are much stricter about carding for these) However, the card rooms aren't if you have a positive expected winrate. Like I said, the x% of the time you get caught, you will get to keep your money almost all the time. Say you lose your $500 buyin at 15/30 5% of the 50% of the time you get caught. That has an EV of -$12.50 for trying to sit. Note: I don't think that you will lose your buyin even close to this amount of the time. Probably ~0 of it. I probably got carded about 25% of the time in vegas at cardrooms and I look about 20-21. Also, when I was there with several underage people they managed to pokah underage. -Craig |

Undathesea,
You are way off base. There is almost zero chance an underage gambler will get thrown in jail unless he attempts to provide a fake ID or is not polite & respectful to the casino staff. |

Re: Going to vegas, not 21
None of my friends have ever had trouble gambling underage. But I've learned from my experiences of when I get carded and kept them away from that. Poker is super easy since the only place that will (rarely) card you is the cage.
You are guaranteed to get carded trying go into most bars and clubs, I would think(though I didn't get carded at Ghost Bar, so what do I know). Blackjack and other table games are fairly likely to card you with craps tables slightly less so. Slots and video poker are pretty much on par with poker.... you will almost never get carded. Also, cocktail waitresses will never card you if you are already gambling, in my experience, so go ahead and order that drink. |

My 18 year old cousin has never had a problem, but then again he is about 6'4 270lbs and plays football for Fresno St.

Actually the won't even card him, they'll just make him leave immediately. |

Re: Going to vegas, not 21
you'll be carded once every 30 minutes. first trip to AC i was carded a total of 6 times. once the floor was standing behind me for like 15 minutes - i got annoyed, turned around and said, 'go ahead, ask.' he chuckled and said, 'can i see your ID please?'
