Re: $55 - T9h in the SB. Flop gutshot straight flush draw....
If I have the math right, I am getting 1:1 on the 980 in the pot, and I am 1.2:1 to make my hand.

Well, worst case scenario, I am making the 55s nice and soft for you all.

[/ QUOTE ] Sorry. 1015 in the pot, 815 to call. So, roughly 1.2:1 pot odds. If I am on crack, please let me know. |

Is my flaw in thinking that I am 1.2:1 AGAINST making my hand? I thought the math was pretty much right on... And doubling up increases my chances of finishing ITM enough that it's worth it. I suck. |

I'm not 100% sure beacuse I haven't look at all of the math, but I'm thinking that your outs won't always be good so I'de fold.

Fold, you are up againt the nut flush draw too often to make this correct.
Edit: what I meant to say was "you are up against hands that you aren't mathematically getting the right odds often enough" to make it correct, the nut flush draw is just the most common in that range (IMO). |

Fold, you are up againt the nut flush draw too often to make this correct. [/ QUOTE ] dur, newt's answer is more correct than yours, though yours is very close. it's not just the nut flush draw, it's all the bigger flush draws. it's the sets, and it's the fact that you aren't closing the action. it's all these things. i mean, i haven't done the math, but i'm willing to trust the op that if he could see his opps cards, be sure he would wind up facing exactly one of them, and know that his outs were all clean, then i'll trust that his math says it's a call. however each part of that line of reasoning is not true. that second paragraph is more aimed at the op than dur. the first one was for dur. citanul |
