a 2/4 NL hand from a while ago

I have quite a few 2/4 NL hands that I never posted...never felt like I had a place to post them. As I remember them I will post them.

This particular hand was 3 handed. I was in the BB with just over $400. Button was a very good regular who I have respect for. He may be better than me, also I'm sure he views me as at least decent. He has $400. SB is the reason (for me at least) that the game is even going.

Button raises to $16 pf, SB folds, I have K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

I decided to raise to $36...I was debating on $60 to go but decided $36 for some reason. I think $48 narrows my hand range significantly.

Flop is K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

I lead for $40 he makes it $120 to go after a little thought.

I call.

turn is 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

check/check

river is 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I think for a while and push.

After the hand I feel like I could have played it differently.

Preflop is gross. In 3 handed game jacking up a button raise shouldn't define your hand so much.

Bet half pot or something similar that looks weak on turn.

I would reraise the flop all-in as he could have a diamond draw and also a pair + diamond, or a smaller set.

I don't think he calls the push enough with a pair + diamond draw to make up for the action I may lose when he has a set and a diamond hits turn.

Also, I'm not sure why I should be afraid of a diamond draw at this point.

Your reraise is about eh size of the pot, so I dont think you have to go for getting more value of a lesser hand there but to protect your hand, but I may be wrong. The turn will be tough to play also if a diamond come.

raise to at least 50 preflop. bet close to pot on flop. this way, when villain raises on the flop, he's basically pot committed and all the money will go in on the flop.

Preflop you need to make it atleast $48. It's 3 handed so you should be doing this w/ a wide range.

Flop is good, but I think there is also some merit to pushing. You really don't want to see a diamond come down.

What about donking the turn for $100? It looks weak enough that if he has top pair he should at least call if not push. If he has a flush draw I could see the same thing.

bet the turn, 2/4 is not high enough for most villains to pick up that you are pricing them in suspiciously.

The SB in the hand must be a total donk...

I would be 60 on the flop, call the raise, and bet the turn again at 1/2-2/3 of the pot. I like betting on the turn a lot more than checking it.
