Why do people "ninja bump" / "ghost bump"?

Should have maybe been in the Psychology-forum, but can anybody explain why anybody does it? I thought trolls wanted attention, and by ghost bumping they don't achieve that [img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img].

honestly I would love someone to ghost bump threads in the strategy forums, just to keep noobie questions from happening, as faqs obviously dont work, and its a hassle to try and get stickies put up.
