Default all in on a draw?

doyle why'd you do it

Rod Hurlbut raised to 60k from under the gun and Doyle Brunson called from the small blind. The flop came 3sKdJd, Hurlbut bet 100k, Brunson raised to 300k total, and Hurlbut called all in for 150k. The players turned up:

Rod Hurlbut AhKh
Doyle Brunson QdTd

Brunson was a 53% favorite with his open-ended straight flush draw versus Hurlbut with top pair. The turn came the 9h, giving Brunson a straight and Hurlbut was drawing dead. Hurlbut went home in 20th place with $64,400.

doil risked his tourney life with queen high. plz explain. great players always say never put your chips in on the draw.

thx
