if either one of them lost i would imagine they would drop to around 4th-6th in the polls (as long as no one else in the top 5 lost).

[/ QUOTE ]why would you think they would fall that far? Everyone below them has at least one loss.

i feel like all the pundits would argue that LSU, etc were the stronger team at the moment (since their losses came early in the season).

i'm not sure though. Texas-USC is what everyone wants to see.

I forgot about the pundits, good point. To bad we can't see a battle royale between the top 4 teams.

The BCS got lucky this year. I really do hate the BCS.

It just shows how screwed up the NCAA league officials are. I mean all this is driven by $$$$$. They can add an extra game to next year's schedule but not a playoff system.

Who are the four best teams in college football? It is left up to opinion. By the records, it would have to be USC and Texas, and then you'd have to pick two out of LSU, PSU, and VT. However, strong cases can be made for Auburn, ND, Oregon, and OSU. Personally, I think Auburn is a better team than PSU, and they should have beaten LSU. Teams will always feel left out in a playoff system, but the BCS has been known to fail. Quite the predicament.

If that happens it's BS. Penn State should play in the championship game given one of those circumstances. They were a 1 second play from going undefeated in the Big Ten. LSU is horribly overrated as was the now exposed Alabama.

From all of the experts I have heard if Texas lost PSU would be in. More out of the whole, "We need to get JoePA in another championship game."

If USC was to lose it would probably still be them. Which I think is fair. Because a one loss team in the Big Ten would be much better than a one loss team from the pathetic Big 12. Not that the Pac 10 is much better but at least it has been forever since USC has lost a game. I'm fine with cutting them a break.

This is a very fair analysis, I think.

Also, it would be pretty cool to see a classic big 10 vs pac 10 in the rose bowl for the national title.

Penn State is 2 seconds and some non-reviewed catches from being 11-0 with a harder schedule than the teams above them. They clearly don't have a case for the Rose Bowl if Tex/USC win out, but I don't see why/how Tex should get the Rose Bowl if they were to lose (from a logical standpoint).

USC, on the other hand, deserves the Rose Bowl even with a loss. They haven't lost in three years, got shafted 2 years ago and deserve to go for a 3-peat.
