I don't think its been said yet, but if he knew what you had, why would he check the turn

What if the river truly blanked...are you check-calling?

[/ QUOTE ]

A ten on the river is about as blank a card as you can get.

BTW, he did not "Know" what you had until the river and at that point, it doesn't take a genius to figure it out.

About the only thing to really discuss here is whether he should raise on the flop or the turn.

He shouldn't raise on the turn if he can expect a checkcall from you on the river with AK.

He might want to consider raising the flop given that the sb is still there i.e. raise and define the sb's hand and to an extent, your hand.

As for your play, IMO it was fine. Obviously, consideration should be given to calling the river bet. But it appears that you did consider it but rejected the idea. Nothing wrong with that.

The turn raise by the strong player is IMO quite debatable. I think he should raise only if (a) he feels that he can't get a call from Jeff on the river with an unimproved AK or (b) he intends on value betting the river if Jeff calls the turn raise and still expects to be called by AK.

(b) will be a rare occurrence.

Come to think of it, the guy's turn raise will also be seriously devalued if Jeff is aggressive enough to 3 bet with AQ.

I feel like it's kinda bad form to discuss people's names on here, but feel free to PM me if you'd like. How often are you down there?

Jeff

It's evident that this player is in your head if you're posting this hand. Of course you played it fine. He didn't know what you had unless you're exhibiting some sort of tell - you play any AQ and KQs the exact same way, right?

[/ QUOTE ]

You'd 3 bet these?

Yes, the majority of the time.

Against a potential steal-raise from the cutoff and a loose button call? Sure - raise for value.

Next time say:
How the f did you know I had KQ of spades?

Next, laugh at his reaction.
